Georgian Mahogany Chest
Very elegant Georgian chest.
Made from fine, well figured Mahogany, with bobbin beading, turned handles, and original blue paper lining. A shaped skirt sits above splayed feet. It is rather special, as it is signed by the makers. In large letters in pencil to the base, Signed H Hall & J Eyre, Cabinetmakers, Chesterfield. This dates it very accurately to 1835 as this was the only year they were both in the business of cabinetmaking. It is so rare to find makers marks on antique furniture, especially of this age.
They measure 1095mm across the top x 540mm deep x 1110mm high.
The colour may be slightly different depending on your screen. All of our furniture is Antique or Vintage and has patina.
When we restore pieces we never take them back to raw as this lessens the integrity of a piece. Patina is the build up of little marks and scratches over the many years of the life of an antique, these give it a lovely warm overall appearance.
If there are any major marks or defects we will always point them out either in the description and or photos. If you need more photos just let us know. Inspections welcome. Pop into our shop.
